Planting vegetable/ornamental plants:

Plastic Grow Bags are better containers than pots for cultivating vegetable or gardening purposes. Because they are light weight and can hold more soil required for better growth of plants. They can also move easily one place to another. You can reuse these bags after every cycle of plant life if maintain with care. Normally these bags can last for 4 to 6 years depending the usage and climate conditions.

Pull both the bottom corners of the bags towards outside. So that the bag gets cylindrical shape and will sit properly on the floor. Next step is fill planting medium/soil in the bags, fill the soil 2/3 part of the bag. You may add a bit of bone meal or ash if available, which will boost plant growth or there are lot of bio-fertilizers are available in the market. Good quality soil itself enough to grow a variety of plants. Try to use  better quality hybrid seeds, which will drastically increase the yield.

You can  sprout the seeds separately and replant into the soil filled grow bags when sapling turned to 2-3 leaves  or sprout the seeds directly in the grow bags.

Aftercare:

Apply minimal watering which will prevent water logging on the terrace and become dirty. Vegetable growing on terrace tops does not require more water, but need watering in alternate days. Watering lightly morning or evening would be better. Excess watering may reduce plant growth or kill the plants. You can use small hand sprayers for this purpose.

If the plants are grown to about 20cm  or 8 inch  high, push a cane or wooden stick into the bag next to each plant not harming the routs and gently tie to the plant. This will prevent the plants from toppling over in the wind or if they become top heavy.
